MARANA — The lack of a timely deposit has put the Twin Peaks Interchange program on hold for at least a month.

According to a letter from Marana Town Manager Gilbert Davidson to the Executive Director of the Pima Association of Governments/Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Gary Hayes, the RTA failed to make a $15 million deposit into a local government investment pool (LGIP) account with the state.

The deposit failure caused the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to delay the awarding of the contract.

Bids were opened last month and the project came in under budget.

This is a project of the Regional Transportation Authority. The voter-approved, $2.1 billion RTA plan will be implemented through 2026. Details about the full plan are available at www.RTAmobility.com. The Regional Transportation Authority has a nine-member board with representatives from local, state and tribal governments. This project will be managed in partnership by the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Town of Marana.
