MARANA – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced Friday that Pulice Construction, Inc., of Phoenix, was chosen as the low-bid prime contractor for Marana’s Twin Peaks Interchange. Pulice bid $50.4 million, nearly $15 million less than ADOT’s estimate.

“It’s really awesome,” said Marana Mayor Ed Honea. “This new project is going to be such a benefit to our community. It’s going to help the school district cutting thousands of miles off their bus routes. It’s going to help the town tie Continental Ranch with Dove Mountain together. It will be a catalyst to get the Spectrum Mall moving forward. This is really a great day for the Town of Marana.”

Marana has committed $14 million in impact fees toward the project, and additionally will incur the cost of a new $1 million water line. The Arizona Department of Transportation will also contribute $14 million. The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) has contributed more than $30 million with additional funding coming from Pima Association of Governments, federal, state, and highway user funds.

“It’s great to shepherd this to the awarding of the contract,” said Marana Town Engineer Keith Brann. “I’m just one of many who’ve been the project manager on it over the years. It’s been a capital project since 2001. It’s been talked about for many years before that. Right of way was secured in the Continental Ranch specific plan back in the ‘80s.”
