MARANA — After many years of planning and engineering, ground was broken Monday morning for the Twin Peaks Interchange. The new Interchange will be located on Interstate 10 at exit 245 between the Avra Valley Road and Cortaro Road interchanges.

The improvements will extend Twin Peaks Road west of the Santa Cruz River, to Camino de Mañana and Linda Vista Boulevard east of I-10. The project will also incorporate an overpass at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks east of I-10.

A new access road, Tiffany Loop, will be built to provide local business access on the west side of I-10. This is where the first work will begin.

Pulice Construction, Inc. of Phoenix was chosen as the low-bid prime contractor for the project. Pulice bid $50.5 million, nearly $15 million less than ADOT’s estimate.
